Regardless of where the device is used, visited websites should be school-appropriate. MMSD regularly updates our filter, but at times inappropriate material can bypass our filter and should be reported to the Technical Services Department.
In addition to our district’s filtering system, we will have an added layer of filtering on devices, which will go through a third party but allow parents the option to engage in the online safety of their children by providing parental controls for school-issued devices and weekly reports on their child’s online activity. We will conduct district wide opportunities for parents to receive training on the web-based filtering system during the beginning of the year and then move to a more virtual platform such as videos and handouts for parents.
Parent sessions will be conducted May 21 and May 22.
